GlossGlide is developed by Andrew Hugill. It draws on the Percy Grainger Society‘s long-standing work in documenting, preserving, and making available Percy Grainger’s sound materials, ideas, and creative practices.

Original GLOSS resources

The interactive Glides make extensive use of sound materials and documentation from the original GLOSS project. These downloadable resources form the primary source material for GlossGlide and remain available via the dedicated GLOSS page on this site. Thanks are due to Matt McGarrell and all those who contributed to the creation, recording, curation, and documentation of the original GLOSS materials.

Technical and creative development

The interactive Glides are implemented using open web technologies, including p5.js and related libraries. Design and development decisions prioritise accessibility, predictability, and low-barrier interaction. Where third-party tools or libraries are used, they are acknowledged within the project documentation and code.

Funding and support

Development of GlossGlide has been made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature through funding awarded to the Percy Grainger Society to explore new, inclusive and neurodivergent-led approaches to engaging with Percy Grainger’s sound materials.

Acknowledgements

Thanks are due to colleagues and friends who offered conversation, feedback, and encouragement during the development of the project.
